Health porridge for toddlers and kids

Serves: 2 bowls or 1/3 tin

INGREDIENTS:

Badam(almonds) - 25 gm
Groundnut - 30 gm
Cashews - 50 gm
Roasted gram dal(பொரிகடலை) - 50 gm
Pista - 25 gm
METHOD:

1. In a pan, dry roast all the ingredients separately in simmer till an aroma arises from them. Remove and set aside.
2. Peel the skin of groundnuts easily by slightly crushing with your hands. Do the same for pista, and use a stone if necessary for slight crushing to help remove the skin. Set both of them aside.
3.When cooled, put all the ingredients in a blender and pulse for a few times. Be very careful not to grind too much to get a very fine powder, else the nuts will start to release oil and the mixture will become like a paste. Periodically open the lid and once you see all the nuts are ground and forms a sand like consistency, you're done!!
4. Store the powder in an airtight container in a refrigerator. Use it for a maximum of 1.5-2 months. Don't use for more than that for your kid, even if it stays good. Make the next batch and feed.
Your homemade nuts powder is ready to be used in ur little one's diet with health porridges, milk etc!!

1. I always use the badam, pista, and groundnut 1/4 or 1/2 less than the cashews and roasted gram quantity. It is purely on my choice. You can adjust as you wish.
2. You can add more nuts like walnuts, etc. Also a little piece of dry ginger(சுக்கு)too can be added while grinding, for digestion, but since I use cardamom in the porridges, I always skip it.
3. You can add this to porridges thrice a week or even daily, as per the kid's demand, but limit the dosage to 1 to 1.5 tbsp per day for toddlers.
