Paalaada

Today I m posting a popular tasty breakfast among Muslims of my native, and Kerala as well. Made so commonly in our homes, and during special occasions too..It's speciality is it is very very soft, and even kids can eat more in less time!! One of my favourites 😋..

RECIPE:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Preparation Time: 20-30 mins+ 2-4 hrs soaking time
Cooking Time: <1 min per paalaada
Serves: 15 no's(approx.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
INGREDIENTS: [1 cup=240 ml]
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Raw rice - 1 cup(soaked for 2-4 hrs in water)
Shredded coconut - 3/4 cup
Desi egg - 1.5(or 1 broiler egg)
Salt - as req.
Water - as req.

METHOD:
------------------
1. In a blender, grind the coconut with required water, squeeze and strain the coconut milk. Repeat this for 2 more times. You will get 1 cup coconut milk in total(1/3 cup 1st milk+1/3 cup 2nd milk+1/3 cup 3rd milk). Set this aside.

2. Blend the raw rice with required water till the rice is very well ground and the batter becomes smooth. Pour this to a bowl. Add coconut milk too.

3. Pulse the eggs for a few seconds, and add it too to the bowl.

4. Add more water as required till you get a very watery like consistency of batter.

5. Add salt, and mix very well.

6. Now heat a tawa, pour a ladle of batter and swirl the pan to spread throughout the surface.

7. Cook in low to medium flame. You can see the edges of paalaada start to leave the sides of the pan in a few seconds. Invert the pan over a plate. Invert the paalaada, then fold it into a semicircle, and again fold it to get a triangle. DONE!!

Your supersoft paalaada is ready to be served with spicy sides likes mutton, beef, chicken, egg curries, veg kurma, or even with sweet side dishes of your choice..Njjoy!!

NOTE:
------------
1. The coconut milk can be a little more or less, but not too much. In such cases, adjust water accordingly.
2. You can even use idiyappam flour instead of raw rice, if you want to make it instantly. The quantity is same 1 cup.
3. Don't try to fold the paalaada immediately after cooking, else it will tear off since it is very thin and soft. Leave for 1/2 min, and then try to fold.
