Paruppu Sadham(Dal rice)


Hi frnz..So, today I m here with a very quick familiar lunchbox recipe, which u can make in a few minutes to pack in lunchbox..It's Paruppu Sadham(Dal Rice)..I used to make this atleast once or twice in a month for lunchbox when I was working..Also it needs just any simple side dish..My kid loves it a lot, also it is healthy, so y not to make it often? Even u can make this on lazy days too..And today, I served it with my Bittergourd Tamarind Curry recipe..Well, let's move on to the recipe..

RECIPE:

Preparation Time: 5 mins
Cooking Time: 10 mins
Serves: 5 persons

INGREDIENTS: [1 cup = 240 ml]
-----------------------------------------------
Basmati rice/Seeraka Samba rice/raw rice - 1 cup
Moong Dal - 3/4 cup
Onion - 1
Tomato - 1
Green chilli - 4(small size)
Fenugreek seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - as req.
Curry leaves - 1 handful
Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
Water - 2 cups

WATCH HOW TO MAKE THE RECIPE:


METHOD:

1. In a pressure cooker, dry roast the Moong Dal for a few mins until the smell comes well, and roasted perfectly. Transfer it to a vessel.

2. In the same cooker, pour oil, and temper with curry leaves, onion, fenugreek seeds, and saute till the onion becomes translucent.

3. Next, add the slit green chilli, tomato, and saute until it becomes mushy.

4. Now, add the water, and when it boils, add the turmeric powder, and salt.

5. Next, add the washed moong dal, and basmati rice. Close the lid, and cook in simmer for 5 mins, and then 2 whistles in medium flame. When the pressure is released, open the lid, and serve after a few mins. That's it!!

Your tasty Paruppu Saadham is ready to be served!! Njjoy!!


NOTE:
----------
1. You can adjust the ratio of Dal and rice as per your wish.

2. You can also add other ingredients like cumin seeds, hing etc. while tempering, but I don't add them usually.
