Flaxseed Missi Roti

Flaxseed Missi Roti..A variation of the North Indian Missi Roti..Missi Roti is one of the tasty and popular bread varieties of  the NorthIndian cuisine. I tried missi roti for the first time several months back, and that too with oats following the handbook recipe of Quaker Oats. Thatswhen I came to know about the missi roti name. It was too good even without much spices. So I thought why not to implement the same with flaxseed powder. Tried with my own choice of ingredients and measurements. I should really say, the taste was simply superb!! This is particularly useful when u don't want to make gravies or side dishes. Just make the roti, serve with some yogurt/pickle/butter, and your meal is ready!!

RECIPE:
-------------------------------------------------
Preparation Time: 10 mins
Resting Time: 10-15 mins
Cooking Time: 2 mins per roti
Serves: 5 no's
-------------------------------------------------
INGREDIENTS: [1 cup=240 ml]
-------------------------------------------------
Wheat Flour - 1/4 cup + for kneading & rolling
Flaxseed powder - 1/4 cup
Besan Flour(கடலைமாவு) - 1/4 cup
Onion(fine chopped) - 1/4 cup
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Ajwain(carom seeds/ஓமம்) - 1/2 tsp
Chaat masala - 3/4 tsp
Salt - as req.
Water - as req.
Oil - as req.

METHOD:
------------------
1. Take all the ingredients except water and oil, in a plate or bowl. Mix well with your hands or spoon.

2. Adding water little by oil, knead well to form a smooth dough. Touch some oil and knead to prevent sticking. Add some wheat flour too(I used 2 tsp) at this stage if the dough is too much sticky. Now your dough is ready. Cover it and allow to rest for 10-15 mins.

3. Now form round shaped falls from the dough. Roll the balls gently and carefully with a rolling pin to form roti shapes. Dust with flour whenever needed at this stage, to prevent sticking.

4. Place the roti in a hot tawa, apply oil on the roti after a few seconds. When one side is cooked, flip the roti, apply oil on the top, and cook till done on the other side. Transfer the roti to a plate. That's it!!

Your delicious Flaxseed Missi Roti is ready to be served hot!! Njjoy with some yogurt/pickle/butter/any side of your choice!!

NOTE:
----------------
1. The proportion of wheat flour, bengal gram flour, flaxseed powder is purely on your choice. I chose in 1:1:1 ratio(excluding the wheat flour used for kneading and rolling).

2. The other supporting ingredients are chosen purely on your choice. You can add or less ingredients as per your wish. For an instance, you can also make changes in the masala, include ingredients like pomegranate seeds,  Kasuri methi, fresh methi, palak etc.

3. Cook the roti in medium flame so that no over or under cooking is done.
