Cumin - Roasted Gram(பொரிகடலை/Bhuna chana) Milk For Toddlers and Kids..A very good alternative for the usual Badam milk, dryfruits milk etc..The cumin seeds is the main ingredient of the recipe which gives an excellent flavour to the milk, and helps in digestion as well..Usually I add cardamom, clove or sometimes even cinnamon too to the milk for the digestion purpose, and now cumin is one more in the list..Adding roasted gram is an additional ingredient to provide extra nutrition..A must try Rcp for toddlers and kids, dear mommies..
Cumin water is a must in our native wedding ceremonies till before a decade..I jus lov that water served after the heavy lunch for digestion in our Muslim weddings..A month back, when I made biriyani on a Sunday, made the cumin water too for lunch..With the cumin residue still on the vessel, I boiled milk on the same vessel for myself for evening, while feeling lazy to make tea..Added some sugar to the cumin milk and after the first sip, I was like, 'wow, why haven't I tried this till date'..Immediately I thought to follow the rcp for my kid, and post in the blog as well..
But the cumin milk would be a much simpler Rcp to post in the blog..So I thought of adding another ingredient too to make it healthier, and some leftover roasted gram dal in the pantry came into my mind..Made the rcp, turned out soo good, and here it is..

Serves: 1 1/4 cup

INGREDIENTS: [1 cup=240 ml]

Milk - 1 1/4 cup
Cumin seeds - 2/3 tsp
Roasted Gram Dal - atleast 1/4 cup
Honey - 2 tsp or as req.
METHOD:

1. Heat the milk in a vessel. When the milk starts boiling and raises, add the cumin seeds, mix well, switch off the stove, and close with a lid. Let it rest for 10 to 20 mins.
2. Finely powder the roasted gram dal to a very fine powder in a blender. You can store this powder in an airtight container and use when needed.
3. Strain the milk to a cup to remove the cumin seeds. Next, add 1 1/2 tsp dal powder, and mix very well. Set this aside.

1. Since the gram dal is already roasted, you need not roast it again. If you want to roast it anyways, you can do it too.
2. The given measurement is perfect. Still you can adjust the ingredients as per your taste.
