Boiled Egg Avial


Boiled Egg Avial..A quick and easy sidedish with boiled eggs and ground coconut masala..The best option if you want to make avial, but running out of vegetables..Avial is a favourite for almost all people including the nonveg lovers lyk me..It is one of the important sidedishes in SouthIndian meals, especially Tamilnadu and Kerala meals..However the masala differs from place to place..This Rcp too is a slightly different one..And very tasty too.. So must try this, and soon I will be sharing the Avial recipe with vegetables too frnz..

RECIPE:

Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: <10 mins
Serves: 3 persons

INGREDIENTS: [1 cup=240 ml]
-----------------------------------------------
Boiled Eggs - 3
Onion - 1/2
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - a few
Lemon juice - 1 tsp or as req.
Salt - as req.
Oil - as req.
Water - as req.

To Grind:
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Onion - 1/4
Dried red chilli - 3
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp


METHOD:

1. Grind the 'To Grind' ingredients to a coarse paste with little water.


2. In a pan/vessel, pour oil, temper with mustard seeds and half of the curry leaves. Add fine chopped onion and saute till translucent.


3. Add the ground paste at this stage with little water and mix well. Add salt, mix again, and boil for 2-3 mins in medium flame.


4. Now slice each boiled egg into 4 slices, and carefully place them on the pan with the egg yolk facing down. Cook for 2 more mins.


5. Add the remaining curry leaves and lemon juice finally.


6. Coat the coconut masala over the eggs very gently without breaking the eggs, and switch off the stove. That's it!!


Your quick and delicious Boiled Egg Avial is ready to be served with hot rice!! Njjoy!!


NOTE:
------------
1. You can also add tamarind juice instead of lemon juice.
2. To grind, shallots too can be used instead of onion.
3. Add more water if you want a semigravy like consistency.
