Steamed Moong Kabab

 


Hi all..Iftar is an enjoyable moment for any muslim who is fasting..Sipping the first drop of water or drink after fasting for the whole day, the adorable feel is hardddd to describe in words..It is usually better to take light food which is convenient for the stomach after fasting..However, almost all of us used to fill our dining spreads with fried and baked food for iftar..Many of us forget the fact that, we can even make steamed starters/snacks which r tasty as well..I feel this recipe can motivate u to try more steamed recipes for the upcoming iftar feasts..


RECIPE:

Preparation Time:  3 mins

Cooking Time:  30 mins

Serves: 15 pieces approx.

INGREDIENTS: [1 cup=250 ml]

-----------------------------------------------------------

Green gram (Whole moong) - 1/2 cup

Water - 3/4 cup

Roasted rock salt - as required

Coriander powder - 2 tsp

Gooseberry powder / Aamchur powder / Chaat masala - 1/2 tsp 

Ghee / butter - for coating

To grind:

Red poha - 1 cup

Cumin seeds - 1 tsp

Pepper - 2 tsp

METHOD:

1. In a pressure cooker, add the cleaned moong, water, salt, and cook for 5 whistles in simmer.

2. Meanwhile, in a blender, add the 'To grind' ingredients and grind well to form a powder. Transfer it to a bowl.

3. Mash the cooked moong and add it to the bowl. Mix very well. Add very little water if required while kneading.

4. Form oblong shapes and steam cook for 20 mins in high flame. That's it..

Your healthy steamed moong kabab is ready!!  Have it with ur favourite dip!!




NOTE:

---------- 

1.Any masala of your choice like red chilli powder, garam masala etc. and veggies like onion, coriander leaves etc. can be added.

2. You can even make fried kabab or cutlet recipe by dipping the mashed moong shapes in egg/flour mixture, coating in the ground powder and frying them.
