Hi frnz..Well, it's been a long time since I blogged..Now I m here with a simple n tasty rice recipe, which all of us know..Homestyle Tamarind Rice..There r different ways to make it, however this one is a very simple method with minimal ingredients, yet very tasty..Suits well for a picnic day, a lazy day, and much helpful for bachelors especially..Now, let's move on to the recipe..
RECIPE:

Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 7 mins
Serves: 3 persons

INGREDIENTS: [1 cup=250 ml]
--------------------------------------------
Cooked Rice - 10 to 12 big ladles
Shallots - 20 to 25
Tamarind - 1 big lemon size(soaked in 1/2 cup water)
Gingelly oil - 1.5 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Dried Red Chilli - 2
Salt - as req.
Water - as req.
METHOD:

1. In a kadai, pour the gingelly oil. Add the mustard seeds and allow to splutter. Next, add the dried chilli, curry leaves and saute for a second.
2. Now add the sliced shallots and saute well until golden brown color.
3. Mash the tamarind well in a bowl and remove it. Add the tamarind juice to the kadai.
4. Add 1/3 cup of water to the bowl, add the tamarind and again mash it well. Add this juice to the kadai.
5. Next, add the salt, and when the mix boils well, keep the flame in low, and add the rice little by little to the kadai. Mix gently often. When the moisture is well reduced, switch off the stove. Serve at room temperature. That's it!!
Your simple n tasty Homestyle Tamarind Rice is ready to be served!! Njjoy!!
NOTE:

1. Gingelly oil and shallots are the must ingredients. So don't skip them.
2. You can use any variety of cooked parboiled rice. I used Kerala unpolished Samba rice.
3. It tastes great with a boiled egg and Coriander Thovaiyal, Potato Stir Fry side dishes.
