Mango-Custard Apple Puree..This is one of the tastiest puree recipes which I used to make for my kid a couple of years back..Since the custard apple season has started already, and the mangoes season weren't yet over, I thought to post this rcp, which will be helpful for many moms here..Fruit purees, especially mixed fruit purees r one of the best ways to feed fruits for babies and early toddlers, when they r not interested in eating the mashed fruits or chunks of fruit..
Along with banana, custard apple is one of the first foods in fruit category, which I started for my baby when she completed 6 months..I just mash them with my hands n feed her..She just loves it..We have them in our backyard itself, which tastes very sweet, and much much better than the store bought ones..
My kid has not been a big lover of mangoes!!She eats it, but not with interest, and sometimes says no too..For babies below one year, we shouldn't give honey or sugar..So, I had to always use dates and a few other fruits along with mango to bring some new taste which she likes..Nowadays, the mangoes are not that sweet when compared to the ones which we ate during our childhood days..Also they lose even more sweetness when puréed..
So, one fine day, with loads of custard apple residing on the table from our backyard, and mangoes left untouched by my kid, I thought to combine the two, and made this recipe..Believe me, she ate a bowl of puree in less than 5 mins, and that too with interest!! The best part is, u couldn't find out that custard apple is added, since mango dominated the taste, and custard apple gives all its sweetness to the puree..In short, the custard apple acted jus like a natural sweetener for the mango puree! So, I recommend this rcp for ur little ones frnz..

Mango(medium sized) - 1
Custard apple(medium sized) - 1
METHOD:

1. Peel and chop the mango. Set this aside.
2. Now using both of your clean hands, gently pull apart the custard apple into 2 halves. Take the first half, pluck the centre flesh with all your fingers. Now take one tiny flesh, and press it with your thumb and fore finger. The seed comes off easily, and you will get a thick pulp. Set this aside. Do this for the remaining tiny fleshes. Next, scrap the skin with your thumb to get the remaining thin pulp. Repeat these steps for the other half too. That's it. You have got all the pulp in just 2 minutes.

-----------
1. Prefer mashed or chopped fruits generally for babies and toddlers to avoid loss of fiber nutrients, and try this recipe only if you feed purees as per the baby's demands.
